LIVINGSTON, Ala. The University of West Alabama introduced Randy Pippin as its 17th head coach Tuesday to an eager and energetic crowd of Tiger supporters and media.
Pippin, 37, comes to West Alabama from Middle Georgia College where he guided the Warriors to 10-win seasons in two out of three years.
Athletic Director Dee Outlaw introduced Pippin as the new head coach at a press conference Tuesday.
After receiving his UWA hat and coaching pin, Pippen then talked to the more than 150 in attendance.
Pippin has a long line of success than includes one national championship. Pippen, who has more than 15 years of coaching experience, was 26-7 in three seasons at Middle Georgia and has an overall coaching record of 51-15. He won the NJCAA national championship at Trinity Valley Community College with a perfect 12-0 record. He also has coaching stints at Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech, where he played for new Alabama football coach Dennis Franchione.
In talking to the UWA supporters Tuesday, Pippin stressed three things he wants to work toward.
Pippin takes over for Bobby Johns who retired to join his wife who took the head softball job at the University of Florida. The Tigers had a 3-8 record under Johns last year.
