DOROTHY FAYE ACKER
Homemaker, part-time Realtor
Memorial services for Dorothy Faye Acker will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel, with her son, Greg Acker, and other family members officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Acker, 70, of Lewisville, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, in her home. She was a homemaker and part-time Realtor who had lived in Meridian most of her adult life.
Survivors include a son, Greg Acker of Coppell, Texas; a daughter, Deborah Acker of Lavallette, N.J.; two sisters, Lavelle Haggard of Mobile, Ala., and Velma Hooks of Louisville; two brothers, Buren Ruth of Vicksburg and Charlie Ruth of Longview, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Erin Acker, Jonathan Acker and Austin Acker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Acker, and a son, Randy Acker.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association in Mrs. Acker's name.
GARY THOMAS HOLLOWAY
OPELIKA Services for Gary Thomas Holloway will be held today at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Opelika, with the Revs. Drs. Tim Thompson and Syd Lock officiating. Burial will be in Garden Hills Cemetery with Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holloway, 49, of Opelika, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Bethany House in Auburn, Ala.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sandra Smith Holloway of Opelika; a son, Gabriel Thomas Holloway of Opelika; and a sister, Deanna Densmore of Meridian.
ALMA W. HARPER

Graveside services for Alma W. Harper will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, with the Rev. Frankie Boyette officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Harper, 71, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Harper of Meridian; a daughter, Marian Purvis and her husband, Joe, of Meridian; a stepdaughter, Sherry Barbot of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Launa Mott of Ellisville; a brother, Preston Wright of Buffalo, N.Y.; a stepbrother, Lawance Raney of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie P. Wright and Bertie Wright Raney; and a sister, Juanita Roberts.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Harper, Sonny Goss, Jessie Roberts, Thad Roberts, Wayne Roberts, Joe Roberts and Will Roberts.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
JACK HOWARD STEARNS
Retied U.S. postal carrier
Services for Jack Howard Stearns will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Danny Chisholm officiating. Burial will be in Causeyville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Stearns, 83, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a Deacon and member of Central Baptist Church and the Scrap Iron Sunday school class. Mr. Stearns was a captain in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Molpus Stearns of Meridian; two sons, James C. Stearns of Milwaukee, Wis. and Don H. Stearns of Brandon; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Foreign Missions.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Stearns, Kelly Stearns, David Stearns, Will Pearson, Robert Pearson, Vaughn Purvis, Claude Lucas, Gene Raley, Jerry Pope and Charles Downey.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN RAINER

BUTLER, Ala. Graveside services for Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Rainer will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rainer, 71, of Pennington, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Lee Rainer of Pennington; two daughters, Kathy Stephens of Bay Minette and Carolyn Eaves of Toomsuba; a brother, J.E. Rainer of Decatur; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
LEE ANDREW CARTER

WAYNESBORO Services for Lee Andrew Carter will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sweet Pilgrim Methodist Church in Shubuta, with the Rev. Kevin Carter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carter, 80, of Shubuta, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, in his home. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Carter of Shubuta; two daughters, Sherry Carter McFarland of Meridian and Patricia Carter Hoze of Shubuta; five sons, the Rev. Kevin Carter of Meridian, Richard Terrel Carter of Shubuta, Johnny Lee Carter of Shubuta, Charles Carter Jr. of Waynesboro and John Jury of Fontana, Calif.; a brother, Jessie Carter of Shubuta; 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton for Woodford Douglas McGee of Hickory who died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in his home.
