Frazier-Yarbrough tourney set to kickoff this week

There will be a ton of basketball attention placed on this week's Frazier-Yarbrough Memorial Tournament at Meridian High School.
But there's also plenty of other action for teams in The Meridian Star's coverage area, including inside Lauderdale County.
Before Clarkdale heads to the Frazier-Yarbrough tourney, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs entertain Stringer tonight, while Lamar School is at home to take on Central Hinds in Academy Division 3-AAA action.
Other contests tonight include a pair of Academy Division 3-A matchups: At Macon Heidelberg Academy pays a visit to Central Academy, while at Bay Springs, Sylva-Bay Academy hosts Wayne Academy.
Tuesday, a pair of matchups between Division 5-3A rivals highlights the non-tournament schedule. That's when West Lauderdale goes to DeKalb to take on Kemper County and Southeast Lauderdale travels to Decatur to face Newton County.
Neshoba Central will be at Newton in a pair of exciting matchups Tuesday, while Lamar School is at home again to entertain Class AAAA Hillcrest Christian.
Among Tuesday's other games, Louisville at Kosciusko, Philadelphia goes to Williams-Sullivan, Noxapater hosts Scott Central, Union is at Nanih Waiya, Forest entertains Carthage and Lake hosts Sebastopol.
Here's a rundown of the remainder of this week in prep basketball:
On Thursday, tournaments provide the only local action.
Semifinal and consolation action in the Frazier-Yarbrough will be held Thursday at Meridian High and Meridian Community College; while Edinburg will join county rivals South Leake, Carthage and Thomastown in the Leake County Tournament.
Friday, a pair of area schools step up the competition against larger schools when Bay Springs travels to Laurel and Forest entertains Pearl.
One of the best small-school girls' rivalries is renewed Friday, as well, when Lake's highly-touted Lady Hornets host defending Class 1A state champion Scott Central.
Enterprise hosts Choctaw County Friday, while Wayne County entertains Brandon in a pair of Division 5-5A showdowns. Union entertains Puckett, Newton goes to Morton, Philadelphia is at Ackerman, Neshoba Central is at Starkville, Louisville is at Winona and Nanih Waiya goes to Sturgis.
Friday's private school action has Heidelberg Academy entertaining Newton County Academy and Wayne Academy entertaining Central Academy in 3-A action. Winston hosts Leake Academy, Kemper Academy goes to Victory Christian and Patrician Academy is in the Holiday Classic.
There's plenty of action on tap Saturday, as well, including some old rivalry matchups.
Newton County is at Newton High Saturday night, while West Lauderdale entertains Enterprise and Kemper County hosts B.L. Moor.
Kemper Academy goes to ex-division rival Winston Academy Saturday, Lamar School is at Heritage Academy in Columbus, Leake Academy hosts Simpson in a pair of private-school showdowns and Lake hosts Stringer.
