    OBITUARIES FOR SUNDAY, DEC. 10, 2000

    THELMA GRACE BOUNDS LITCHFIELD
    Homemaker
    Services for Thelma Grace Bounds Litchfield will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the Revs. Lannis May and Alan Randall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Litchfield, 80, of Meridian, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Ansel D. Litchfield of Meridian; seven sons, Doyle Litchfield, Wendell "Winky" Litchfield, George "Joe" Litchfield, Arthur "Dee" Litchfield, Dewayne Litchfield, Billy Litchfield and Douglas Litchfield, all of Meridian; a daughter, Lynn Coleman, of Marion; a sister, Verlie Beckman, of Philadelphia; a brother, Charles Bounds, of Philadelphia; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
    Pallbearers include Tim Litchfield, Tony Litchfield, Mark Litchfield, Tommy Litchfield, Alan Litchfield, Brian Litchfield, Billy Ray Litchfield and Stevie Litchfield.
    DOROTHY FAYE ACKER
    Homemaker, part-time Realtor
    A memorial service for Dorothy Faye Acker was held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with her son, Greg Acker, and other family members officiating.
    Mrs. Acker, 70, of Lewisville, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, in Lewisville after a prolonged bout with emphysema. She was a homemaker and part-time Realtor who had lived in Meridian most of her adult life.
    Survivors include a son, Greg Acker of Coppell, Texas; a daughter, Deborah Acker of Lavallette, N.J.; two sisters, Lavelle Haggard, of Mobile, Ala., and Velma Hooks, of Louisville; two brothers, Buren Ruth, of Vicksburg, and Charlie Ruth, of Longview, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Erin Acker, Jonathan Acker and Austin Acker.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Acker, and a son, Randy Acker.
    The family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association in Mrs. Acker's name.
    PEARL POPE

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Pearl Pope will be held today at 4 p.m. at Remus Baptist Church in Edinburg with the Revs. Keith Mangrum and Dan Cook officiating. Burial will be in Remus Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Pope, 81, of Carthage, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Choctaw Residential Center.
    Survivors include a daughter, Linda Salers of Carthage; a son, Dwight Pope, of Carthage; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    GUSTA PEDEN

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Gusta Peden will be held today at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Kemper County with the Revs. Steve Lampkin and Bill Housley officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Peden, 90, of DeKalb, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Mississippi Care Center.
    Survivors include two daughters, Modene Davis, of DeKalb, and Sandra Branning, of Preston; four sons, Herbert R. Peden and Harold Peden, both of DeKalb, James Curtis Peden, of Ellisville and Roy Peden, of Preston; three sisters, Nita Sanders, of Meridian, Thelma Land, of Union and Syble Short, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, L.C. Skipper, of Meridian, and Alfred Skipper, of Preston; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
    EUNICE CHRISTINE COCHRAN MASON

    NEWTON Services for Eunice Christine Cochran Mason will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. John Harold Bethune, Paul Oglesbee and Dr. Frank Harmon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Mason, 81, of Newton, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Conva-Rest Nursing Home. She was a native of Newton County and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school class and was a member of the WMU Circle. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for the South Newton Rural Water Association.
    Survivors include a daughter, Lanette Bryan, of Madison; a son, James "Jimmy" Mason and his wife, Glenda, of Newton; three sisters, Hazel Chizmandia, of Fairfield, Conn., May Dell Hayes, of Meridian, and Mildred Long of Newton; two brothers, Paul V. "Tiny" Cochran, of Newton, and Larry B. Cochran, of Horse Shoe Bay, Texas; six grandchildren, Sarah Ann Bryan and Dylan Mason, both of Madison, James R. "Jim" Mason, Jon Mason, Judson F. "Judd" Mason and Matthew G. Mason, all of Newton; two great-grandsons, Jacob B. Mason and Joshua K. Mason, both of Newton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Mason; a grandson, James Colby Mason; and a brother, Ernest Ray Cochran.
    Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
    Pallbearers include James Hart, Bill Freeman Jr., Robert P. Cochran, Randy Muse, Peter Pierman and Robert Mason. Honorary pallbearers include W.L. Freeman Sr., Emmit Walker and W.A. Barnett.
    LIZZIE BARNEY
    Services for Lizzie Barney will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church in Kewanee with burial in Kewanee Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Barney, 81, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, in Cleveland.
    Survivors include a son, Marshall Barney and his wife, Hazel, of Cleveland; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 p.m. until time of services at the church.
    ALICE BOUNDS
    Services for Alice Bounds will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spiritual True Holiness Church with the Rev. Jimmie West officiating. Burial will be in Archusa Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Bounds, 81, of Shubuta, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the University Medical Center in Jackson.
    Survivors include six daughters, Edna Viverette and her husband, Bennie, of Union, Minnie Bounds, Doris Bennett and Alice Johnson and her husband, Henry, all of Jackson, Nettie Dunning and her husband, Kenneth, of Eight Miles, Ala., and Cora Brown and her husband, Ray Charles, of Shubuta; two sons, Jimmie Bounds and his wife, Doris, of DeSoto, and Roger Bounds and his wife, Helen, of Shubuta; two sisters, Alfie Wallace of Jackson and Beatrice Bonner of Shubuta; two brothers, Jimmie Gill and Jessie Gill, both of Jackson; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    QUITMAN Arrangements were incomplete at Wright's Funeral Home for Samuel E. "Sam" Fleming, 77, of Meridian, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in Jackson.
