ENTERPRISE  After winning three in a row, the Enterprise Bulldogs were looking to give the Northeast Lauderdale Trojans a run for their money Friday night.
However, when the final buzzer sounded, it was the Trojans coming out on top by a final score of 68-63.
The Bulldogs kept the game close from the beginning by playing great defense. The score at the end of the first quarter was tied at nine. The lead see-sawed back and forth in the second quarter, only to see Northeast take a 29-25 advantage into the locker room at the half.
Enterprise answered back by taking the lead with just under four minutes left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs also scored 21 points in the fourth quarter. The Trojans outscored them by only one point. De'Kenno Winston's bucket with 1:16 left in the game put the Trojans in the win column for the seventh time this year.
Enterprise coach Mark Davis was proud of his team's effort.
Cory Boggan led the Bulldogs with 20. Burrell Gandy scored 18 and Mitchell Burns had 17. The Bulldogs (4-4) will travel to Sweetwater, Ala., Monday.
Jimmy Kelly and Naylor had 16 each for the Trojans (7-3), who received a bye in the Frazier-Yarbrough Tournament. They will face the winner of the Noxubee County/ Quitman game on Thursday.
Northeast Lauderdale girls 57, Enterprise 41: The Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans took a decisive 57-41 win over Enterprise on Friday night.
The Lady Trojans used a 12-1 run in the first four minutes of the game to take a 21-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
However, the Lady Bulldogs answered back by outscoring Northeast 19-13 in the second quarter on key shots by Jerra Cook and Chasity Stingley.
The Lady Trojans got help from Dorecious Powe in the third quarter to increase their lead to 20. Enterprise tried to rally in the fourth by going on an 8-0 run, but the Lady Trojans outscored them by 11 to take the victory.
Jerra Cook lead the Lady Bulldogs with 28.
Northeast was lead by Quin Jackson's 16 points and Dorecious Powe's 15. The Lady Trojans will be playing Heidelberg Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the Frazier-Yarbrough Tournament at Meridian High School.
