OBITUARIES FOR FRIDAY, DEC. 8, 2000

EZRA EARLENE EMERSON

Services for Ezra Earlene Emerson will be held Sunday at 1 p. m. at Oak Grove Church of God, with the Rev. Johnny R. Hopson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Emerson of Meridian, died Wednesday Dec. 6, 2000, in his home. He was a retired laborer and bricklaying contractor. He was also a veteran serving in World War II and attained the rank of captain in Special Services.
Mr. Emerson was a Deacon and served as chairman of the business committee at his church. He was also a member of the Spiritual Aires and Traveling Four Gospel Quartets. He will be remembered for his love for God, love for family, love for life and his Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Annie Johnson Emerson; two daughters, Annie Emerson Faulkner and her husband, Leo Bernard, of St. Louis, and Cathy Emerson Clark and her husband, Gerald, of Meridian; six sons, Ezra Eugene Emerson, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of St. Louis, Joe Albert Emerson and Faye, Ralph Edward Emerson Sr. and Mary Hannah, all of Meridian, Larry James Emerson and his wife, Kathy, of Atlanta, Gary Lloyd Emerson and his wife, Laschinski, of Knoxville, Tenn., Alfred Jerome Emerson and his wife, Delia, of Jackson; three sisters, Jeanette Crowther of Atlanta, Fredna Lewis and Mary Smith of Staten Island, N.Y.; a brother, Burnice Emerson and his wife, Eunice, of Meridian; sisters-in law, Bena Mae Emerson, Mabel Emerson and Janie Emerson; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Newton C. Turner will be held today at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Broadhead officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turner, 88, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. He was a retired shoe designer for Genesco Shoe Company in Nashville. Mr. Turner moved to Meridian in 1980 and was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Kathryn Gunn Lackey and her husband, Sam, two nieces, Glynn Lackey and Elizabeth Lynn Lackey-Vance and her husband, Wally, all of Topton; a nephew, Simon Watson and his wife, Punch, of Meridian; four great-nieces and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Gunn Turner.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Bobby Lee Dees will be held today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel, with the Revs. Fred Read and William McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Cooks Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Dees, 71, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Lovis Dees, a daughter, Terry Dees Card, and his mother, Eva Dees, all of Philadelphia; a sister, Sammie Jean May of Richland; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda Faye Chesney.
PEGGY GRIFFITH

Services for Peggy Griffith will be held today at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Richie Davis and Chris Lee officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffith, 65, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Hickory.
Survivors include her husband, Jack B. Griffith of Meridian; a son, Jack R. Griffith of Meridian; a sister, Amelia Hurst of Hickory; a brother, Charles Robert Harris of Hickory; nieces and nephews, the Tony Dean family, Mike Hurst family, Bill Hurst family, Kristie Hurst family, Phylis Dean family, Mack Dean family, Danny Harris, Dale Harris and Therron Harris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Charlie Harris and a sister, Annita Dean.
Pallbearers will be Eric Gray, Bill Hurst, Mike Hurst, Tony Dean, Ken Dawson, Tim Thomas, Jerry Griffith and Will McQueen.

Graveside services for Patricia A. Fairchild will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairchild Cemetery, with the Rev. Chuck Overby officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fairchild, 59, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in her home.
Survivors include her husband, George Fairchild, and two sons, William Joseph Fairchild and George R. Fairchild Jr., all of Meridian; two sisters, Ethel Jay of Meridian and Juanice Goodman of Shelby; four brothers, Everett Fuller, William Fuller and Billy Joe Fuller, all of Meridian, and Charles Fuller of Nenore, Idaho; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mechelle White.
Pallbearers will be Bill Fuller, Mark Fuller, Kevin Fairchild, Hank Fairchild, Prentis White, Cleveland Jay and Josh Hendon.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Ellen Mosley will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Followell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Mosley, 91, of Meridian, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Mosley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Norman Mosley Sr. of Meridian, and Jerald Mosley of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Violet Dollins of Gulfport; three sisters, Pearl Burnett of Lynville, Gray McKay of Ennis, Texas, and Mildred Nelson of Slidell, La.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Mosley and a daughter Virginia Clark.
Pallbearers will be Norman Mosley Jr., Richard Smith, Donald Clark, Dan Hutchinson and George Polland.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
