For a small branch of a big university, Mississippi State's Meridian campus has opened its first restaurant, Dawg House Deli, with a featured menu from DT Grinders.
Prior to the restaurant's opening on Wednesday, MSU students and faculty had to go off campus or to vending machines for a quick, unsatisfying lunch. After having some of the campus' critical needs identified, Dean Bev R. Norment was convinced opening a restaurant was a good idea.
While being located outside the Starkville campus has not been a problem for the Meridian branch in terms of university status having a restaurant at the local branch does make it more like a big university.
At Starkville, food is provided through several satellite food operations from outside vendors. The Meridian campus chose a different route.
The Dawg House Deli is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. For more information, contact Linda Butler, University Relations, at 484-0110.
