Edwards assumes Witherspoon job

By By Stacey Hancock/The Meridian Star
Dec. 4, 2000
Longtime Kate Griffin Junior High School assistant principal Brenda Edwards officially takes over today as principal at Witherspoon Elementary.
She replaces Morris Stanton, a highly vocal critic of the Meridian School Board's decision to close the 112-year-old Witherspoon, a landmark on Meridian's 12th Avenue. Stanton will be released from his contract effective Dec. 31 and reports to duty today as assistant superintendent of Canton Public Schools.
Edwards said she has "mixed feelings" about the change and she sad to leave Kate Griffin.
