Senior drivers recommend 55 ALIVE class

By By Sharon White/The Meridian Star
Dec. 2, 2000
When 70-year-old Pete Lucovich gets behind the wheel of his car now, he feels a little safer about driving and lot better about his insurance premiums.
Lucovich and his wife, Rose Marie, were among 30 people who took part recently in a two-day course for motorists ages 50 and older who may have age-related changes that could affect their driving skills.
The course is one of several planned by AARP and Riley Hospital in the coming year. The next available class is set for Jan. 30-31 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The course is taught by AARP instructor Charles Davis, and will be held on the basement floor of Riley's Educational Building located on the corner of 11th Street and 22nd Avenue.
The Lucovichs said they enjoyed themselves so much they may take the course again in a few years.
To reserve a place in January's 55 ALIVE class, call Riley Hospital at 484-3583 or 693-2511.
