KEMPER COUNTY Mississippi Highway Patrol officials continue to investigate an accident that resulted in the death of 45-year-old Harris McCoy of DeKalb.
Kemper County Deputy Coroner Terry Bostick said McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at about 8 p.m. Wednesday about six miles south of DeKalb on Highway 39 South.
He said McCoy was driving a car, but he didn't see the other vehicle because officials had moved it when he arrived on the scene.
Bostick said he doesn't know who was driving the other vehicle or how seriously the person was injured, but the driver was transported to a Meridian hospital.
DeKalb and Mt. Nebo volunteer fire departments and Kemper County Sheriff's Department officials also responded to the accident.
