NEWTON Two drug raids Tuesday night led to the arrest of four Newton residents and the confiscation of about $1,000 worth of drugs.
Otha Wheaton, Ruby Gray, Lorraine Dukes and Sedrick Harris were arrested as a result of the raids, a joint effort by Newton police officers and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents.
Newton Police Chief Harvey Curry said two homes were searched, one located at 130 Pine St. and the other on Lewis Avenue. Officials raided the first home about 6:30 p.m. and the other an hour to 11/2 hours later. Officers reported finding crack cocaine, marijuana and hydrocodone pills during the search.
Charged with possession with intent to sell, all four people are expected to make initial court appearances today. Curry said he expects to make more arrest.
