Second annual Les Wallace Memorial Scholarship awarded

Robert Baldwin of Quitman accepted the second annual Les Wallace Memorial Scholarship Thursday night at Union Station.
The $1,000 award is named for an electronics instructor at Meridian Community College who was killed Dec. 2, 1998, in a motorcycle accident. The scholarship is sponsored by the East Mississippi Manufacturing Association.
Baldwin is a 1999 graduate of Quitman High School currently enrolled in his third semester in the electronics technology program at MCC. He is a Work-Based Learning student at Peavey Electronics, has a GPA of 3.68 and plans to pursue an associate's degree in applied science.
Baldwin was nominated for the award by his electronics technology instructors, Walter Hammick and Kenneth Carroll.
Candidates for the scholarship must be enrolled in the Work-Based Learning program and maintain a B average. A resume and application are also required.
Baldwin was interviewed by a committee made up of business people, an East Mississippi Manufacturing Association representative and MCC faculty members.
