Lamar sweeps Central

The Lamar Lady Raiders won their first game of the season as they beat Central Academy 42-38 in prep basketball action Tuesday.
Lamar led 15-13 at the half and 28-21 after three quarters and held on for the win.
Melissa Pennington, Myleia Shirley and Libby Huff each had 11 points each.
Megan Stokes led Central with 18 points while Margaret McClure had 12 points.
Lamar boys 57, Central 28: Dusty Jones had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Raiders blasted Central 57-28.
Lamar (3-2) jumped out to a 13-7 lead and was ahead 35-14 at the half.
Jared McKee also had 10 points and 12 rebounds while Sam Eakes pulled down 13 rebounds. Ken Hailey led Central with seven points.
Quitman boys 67, Laurel 50: Quitman improved to 2-1 as the Panthers beat Laurel 67-50.
David Laphand led Quitman with 21 points while Renaldo McKenzie had 16 points.
Laurel girls 52, Quitman 48: KaManica McGee led Quitman with 14 points as the Lady Panthers lost a four-point decision to Laurel.
Shaquilla Mack chipped in 10 points apiece.
