Kemper County searching for new administrator after Harbour's resignation

By By Sheila Blackmon/The Meridian Star
DEKALB Kemper County supervisors say it could take several months to find a suitable person to fill the shoes of County Administrator Bobbie Harbour.
Supervisors named Kemper County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Mike McGrevey interim county administrator late last week after Harbour announced her plans to resign.
Harbour's resignation is effective Dec. 1. She has served the county for 8 1/2 years and resigned to spend more time with her family, McGrevey said.
McGrevey said he does not intend to pursue the full-time position. Harbour and Board of Supervisors President James Granger will meet with McGrevey this week to talk about what needs to be done. McGrevey said he expects Harbour to continue to work closely with the new county administrator for a while.
Kemper County residents have seen two new industries, a regional jail and several businesses open this year including a hotel, two new medical clinics and two East Mississippi State Hospital group homes. A $900,000 grant has been secured for the business incubator building's expansion, and county officials said they intend to keep Kemper County's "momentum" going.
