Myrtle Frauline Hicks, 89, of Russellville, Ala. passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at her residence. She was a native of Franklin County and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Oct. 23 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Danny Fuller, Bro. Keith Prince and nephew, Aaron Smith officiating. Interment was in Old Bethel Cemetery in Leighton.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, W.T. "Bill" Arnold and George Hicks; parents, Jim and Tilda Summers; sisters, Melissa Askew, Versie Wood, Opal Smith; brothers, charles Summers, Lester Summers, LeeAnder Summers, Leonard Summers and Willard Summers; and niece, Margaret Coan.
She is survived by nieces, Cecil Harrison, Jean Potter, Shirley Segal and husband, Dave, Flora Terry and husband, Buddy, Rosemary Kitts and husband, Gregg; nephews, Aaron Smith and wife, Jackie, Jimmy Summers and wife, Shannan, William Summers and wife, Theresa; sister-in-law, L.G. Blankenship; great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The pallbearers were William Summers, Jimmy Summers, Phillip Potter, Jamie Summers, Robert Pierce, Jamie Houser, Gregg Kitts and Kyle Fuller.
Mary Jane Tinsley

Mary Jane Tinsley, 74, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at NHC Hillview Nursing Home in Columbia, Tenn.
Memorial services were held Oct. 23, at Franklin Memory Gardens.
She was a native of Moulton, Ala., the daughter of the late Jacob Haynes and Bertha Stevenson Highsmith, and widow of Marion Perry Tinsley, Jr.
She attended Florence State University and was affiliated with the Methodist church. Saying she was a homemaker does little to describe her passion for life, friends, nature and family. She was known for her social gatherings and events from Brownie meetings to High Tea, and will be remembered for having a full appreciation of life.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Laura Tinsley Scott, of San Bruno, Calif., Fiath Tinsley Deaton and husband, Rex, of South Haven, Miss., Marian Tinsley Colmer and husband, Jon, of Brandon, Miss., and Perri Tinsley Bowman and husband, Tom, of Columbia, Tenn.; sister, Joyce Highsmith Horton, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and grandchildren, Laura Alice Scott, Zachary Rex Deaton, Marian Tinsley Colmer, Brooke Allison Bowman, and Perry Thomas Bowman.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Friends of Russellville Library, 110 East Lawrence St., Russellville, Ala. 35653.
The family also expressed it love and gratitude to the many caregivers who lovingly took care of Mary Jane during her last years.
Maynard C. Boyd

Maynard C. Boyd, 78, of Russellville, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 at Huntsville Hospital.
The visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 25 at the chapel with Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Interment will be in Belgreen Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Boyd and Burma Boyd Gasaway; and brother, Hazel Boyd.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Boyd; daughter, Shara Kimbrough and husband, John, of Belgreen; sons, Tim Boyd and wife, Teresa, of Tuscumbia, Jimmy Boyd, of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Lisa Kimbrough Hill, Ryan Boyd, of Red Bay, Bethany Boyd, of Tuscumbia, Meagan Boyd, of Saltilo, Miss., Cody Boyd, of Tuscumbia, Colton Boyd, of Saltilo, Miss.; sister, Thelma Fuller and husband, George; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Local Ironworkers Union #477 for 45 years. He was a member of the Belgreen Church of Christ and an avid outdoorsman.
Sarah Kate Childers

Sarah Kate Childers, 60, of Littleville, Ala., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at ECM Hospital in Florence.
She was a native of Franklin County and a member of Littleville First Baptist Church. She was employed as a sales clerk with Wal-Mart.
Funeral services were held October 23, at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg, Ala. with Coy Marbutt officiating. Burial was immediately after the service.
She is survived by her husband, H.C. Childers, of Littleville; son, Chayne Childers and wife, Misty, of Jasper; brothers, Doug Gober and wife, Barbara, of Hamilton, and Raymond Gober and wife, Margie, of Phil Campbell; one grandchild, Ryan Childers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oneal and Eva Gober; and a brother, Sammy Oneal Gober.
William "Bill" Witt

William "Bill" Witt, 71, of Russellville, passed away after a sudden illness Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
He lived most of his life in Franklin County, was employed by Reynolds for 36 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville.
Funeral services were held Oct. 23, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barry Holcomb officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He was preceded in death by parents, Fisher and Betty Witt.
He is survived by wife, Sheila Witt; daughter, Angela Witt Dunstan; son Billy Witt and wife, Lisa; sister, Nancy Sinclair and husband, Wayne; granddaughter Ashley Dunstan; grandsons, Nate Dunstan, Leslie Dunstan, Jackson Witt, Lucas Witt; and special cat, Prissy.
Pallbearers were Mike Graham, Marty Graham, James McDuffa, Chad McDuffa, Buddy Stanley, and Sidney Bevis.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his five grandchildren. He will truly be missed.
Gladys Bishop

Gladys Bishop, 96, of Trussville, Ala. passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 in Cullman, Ala.
She will lie-in-state from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 24, 2009 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church prior to the 1 p.m. service with Pastor Hulon Bishop officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Lowery, Jarrod McGaha, Clint Smith, Matt Smith, Ken Patterson and Curt Duboise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Bishop; parents, William L. West and Mary Jane White West; all her brothers and sisters; and 2 grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Doris Sinyard, of Trussville and Lora Higginbotham, of Cullman; six grandchildren, Leisa McGaha, Clifford Duboise, Karen Duboise, Dennis Duboise, Gary Mason Smith and Cheryl Rasbury; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
